SeARCH: Revolutionizing Urban Renewal in Stockholm

SeARCH, an architectural firm, has emerged victorious in an international competition for the urban renewal of Marievik in Stockholm. Their winning proposal, STA(CK)HOLM, envisions the transformation of a prominent area along one of central Stockholm’s major access roads into a futuristic and sustainable neighborhood.

Embracing Futuristic Sustainability

The STA(CK)HOLM project by SeARCH adopts an innovative approach to urban design, emphasizing sustainability and adaptability. The proposal integrates a series of glasshouses within a dynamic landscape of inviting public spaces. This design concept aims to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, providing residents with access to multifunctional winter and summer gardens throughout the year. SeARCH envisions extending the outdoor season for families, allowing them to enjoy the natural surroundings almost year-round.

Collaborative Planning

SeARCH will collaborate closely with the real estate agency AMF and the City of Stockholm to commence the urban planning procedures. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of engaging various stakeholders in the development process to ensure the successful implementation of the project. By working hand-in-hand with both public and private entities, SeARCH aims to realize their vision for a vibrant and sustainable urban neighborhood in Marievik.

Through their innovative design approach and collaborative efforts, SeARCH aims to redefine urban living in Stockholm, creating a neighborhood that seamlessly integrates nature, architecture, and community. The STA(CK)HOLM project represents a bold step towards sustainable urban development and sets a new standard for future urban renewal initiatives in the city.
