Ather 450S: Price Reduction and Specifications Overview

Ather Energy has announced a significant price cut of ₹20,000 for its Ather 450S electric scooter, merely five months after its initial launch in India. This decision follows a noticeable decline in sales, with Ather reporting nearly a 30% month-on-month decrease in sales in December 2023.

Revised Pricing Details

The Ather 450S, initially launched at ₹1,29,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), is now available at a reduced price of ₹1,09,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Additionally, the Pro Pack and battery protection plan, previously priced at ₹14,000, are now offered at ₹10,000.

Specifications Overview

The Ather 450S boasts a 7-inch DeepView LCD display, controllable via switchgear, providing essential information to riders. However, unlike its counterpart, the 450X, the 450S lacks a touchscreen feature.

Equipped with a 2.9kWh battery pack, the Ather 450S offers a certified range of 115 km per charge, with a claimed range of 90 km in eco mode. It achieves a top speed of 90 km per hour and accelerates from 0 to 40 km per hour in just 3.9 seconds.

Charging the Ather 450S is facilitated by a 350W charger, requiring approximately 8 hours and 36 minutes to charge the scooter from 0 to 100%.

Features and Capabilities

In terms of navigation, while the Ather 450X offers full-screen navigation powered by Google Maps, the 450S is limited to turn-by-turn navigation. However, it boasts over 18 directional possibilities, enabling efficient navigation even in complex traffic scenarios.

Safety features include FallSafe technology, which detects falls using sensors and cuts off power to the motor accordingly. Additionally, the scooter includes an emergency stop signal feature, signaling other users during abrupt stops.

Market Competition

With its revised pricing, the Ather 450S now competes directly with the Ola S1 X+, priced at ₹89,999, in the electric scooter market segment.
