A Unique Site Challenge
Niko Design Studio embarks on the design journey for the Michiyama House and Store, confronted with the unique site shape of an almost triangular plot nestled between a bustling main street and a quiet residential area. With over half of the site facing the street, the challenge lies in balancing the client’s request for a house with an integrated rental store while ensuring privacy and maintaining aesthetic harmony with the surroundings.
Innovative Design Approach
Prioritizing privacy and seamless integration, the architects adopt a visionary approach centered around the concept of a series of roofs, both large and small, dispersed throughout the building. This distinctive design strategy not only obscures the layout of the house but also creates a dynamic and inviting presence, captivating the attention of passersby while safeguarding the family’s lifestyle.
