Zerodha-backed Rainmatter Capital Leads Funding Round for Qshala

Rainmatter Capital, an incubator and fund supported by Zerodha, has spearheaded an angel funding round amounting to ₹2.7 crore for Qshala, an “online curiosity platform” aimed at children. The funding round witnessed participation from prominent investors including Kalyan Banerjee, co-founder of Mindtree, along with other seasoned CXOs.

Qshala operates as an online learning platform that employs quizzes to facilitate students’ understanding and exploration of various “how” and “why” questions. The startup aligns its principles with those outlined in the National Education Policy, advocating for children to delve deeper into learning beyond their school curriculum.

Raghav Chakravarthy, Co-founder of QShala, emphasized the team’s dedication to crafting engaging content through extensive research. Their programs, delivered in formats such as quizzes, focused sessions, and interactive programs, aim to enhance life skills among students starting from Class 1 onwards. The ultimate objective is to expand Qshala’s reach to numerous cities across India and globally, catering to children aged 8 to 16 years.

Chakravarthy and his co-founder Sachin Ravi share a background in quiz participation since their early years and crossed paths during their time in law school. Established in 2014, Qshala holds a Limca record for being the “first company in the world to conduct a quiz in all 7 continents, including the Antarctic.”

Commenting on the investment, Nithin Kamath, Founder & CEO of Zerodha, emphasized the importance of nurturing critical and lateral thinking skills in children from a young age. Kamath highlighted the evolving landscape of education, emphasizing the need for children to develop a skill set that aligns with future employability requirements.

As Qshala receives support from investors like Rainmatter Capital and seasoned industry professionals, it underscores the growing recognition of the significance of innovative learning platforms tailored to children’s evolving educational needs. With its commitment to fostering curiosity and critical thinking, Qshala is poised to make a meaningful impact on children’s education and skill development journey.
